Types Of Registered Nurse Career Opportunities

If you are considering becoming a registered nurse, or R.N., then you will be happy to learn that the registered nurse jobs in the job market vary widely.  Being an R.N. is a great choice of careers, since this career allows you to basically pick and choose where you want to work. Most R.N.s make pretty good money.  According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the average median pay for registered nurses is just over $64K annually, or about $31.00 an hour.

Registered nurse work possibilities include jobs working in doctor's office, hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.  Registered nurses can choose the right facility for their nursing style.  This type of nurse can also be hired as a private duty nurse, providing care in the home of a person who is sick or aged.  There are also  jobs for nurses in prisons, corporations, and schools.  Some private companies hire nurses to provide care for their employees.  A career as a military registered nurse can also be lucrative.  There are registered nurse career opportunities in all branches of the United States military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Reserves, and the Coast Guard.  In some instances, the  military will provide the training for its members to become a registered nurse.

As you can see, there are numerous jobs for the R.N., and trained nurses can make a comfortable living.  In most instances, the registered nurse does not choose nursing for the income, but rather because they want to help people.
